Use the Instructor Console

Note

If you are assigned to be the Instructor for a class, you will typically receive an email notification about the class, including the class start time.

Open the Instructor Console to conduct and manage a virtual training class:

  1. From the CloudShare menu, select Training > Classes. The Class List is displayed.

  2. Click the Name of the class you want to view or manage. The Class Details page is displayed.

  3. At the top of the page, click Open Instructor Console. The Instructor Console will open in a new browser tab.

The Instructor Console uses the following features and controls:

Class

The name of the class you're instructing. Clicking on the name will take you to its Class Details page.

Student Thumbnails

Thumbnail views that show the current status of each student's environment. At the upper right corner of each thumbnail, the verticaldots.png menu provides features to interact with that student.

Actions Panel

Displays the following sections:

  • Student Search. Enter a few letters to locate names of matching students in the Student list.

  • Instructor Environments. Use this to create your own environment for the class, or access the environment of another class Instructor, when available. You can:

  • Participants. The Students tab lists all students in the class with their current status, and enables you to message and chat privately with each student, change custom parameters for a student, and perform other actions on their class environments. The Instructors tab lists all Instructors in the class with their current status.

  • Chats. The Class Chat tab enables you to chat with the entire class. The Instructors Chat tab enables you to chat with other Instructors.

  • External Class Resources. When the class uses external resources, this section provides relevant information (for example, the login credentials to access the external cloud Admin Console for the class).

Class Navigation Buttons

Paging buttons that enable you to navigate through student thumbnails in large classes.

Options Toolbar

Provides the following options:

  • Cloud Folders. Toggles the display of the Instructor's Cloud Folders to students in the class. You can turn the display on or off at any time during the class. For more details, click here.

  • Sound. Toggles audio for alerts and notifications from students.

  • Assist Me Requests. Notifies you of any student requests for assistance. For more details click here.

  • Thumbnails per Row. Sets the number of thumbnails currently displayed per row.

  • Thumbnails per Page. Sets the number of thumbnails currently displayed per page.

Video Conferencing

Provides built-in live video conferencing features directly from your class. For more details, click here.

In-Class Analytics

Enables you to view immediate real-time statistics about your class, while it's still running or after it's completed. For more details, click here.

Exit Console

Click the Exit icon to save any changes that were made and close the Instructor Console tab.
