Set the Default Snapshot
Environments created from a blueprint are based on the default snapshot in the blueprint. It's easy to change which snapshot is the default.
Important
For users of multiple regions: If you wish to be able to launch environments, classes or demos from different regions using the same blueprint, you can make the blueprint available on the relevant region(s) by copying the default snapshot from the US East region to the other region(s). You can choose to do this at the same that you create the snapshot or later.
In order to ensure that the blueprint is consistent across regions, CloudShare automatically detects if you try to set a snapshot as default when the blueprint is already on multiple regions but the snapshot is not. The action is not allowed without copying the snapshot to the other regions. You are prompted to allow CloudShare to copy the snapshot to the relevant region(s) and then set it as default.
-
Open the Blueprints and Snapshots menu and select Snapshots.
Your snapshots are displayed in the Snapshots page. You can see at a glance which snapshots are default snapshots (labelled D) and latest snapshots (L).
-
Open the Blueprints and Snapshots menu and select Snapshots
Your snapshots are displayed in the Snapshots page.
-
Click the name of the snapshot that you want to be the default.
The Snapshot Details page appears.
Click Set as Default.
If the snapshot is on US East region and was not previously copied to all other region(s) where the blueprint resides, you are automatically prompted to allow CloudShare to copy it to those regions before setting it as default. The mandatory copy action ensures that blueprints have matching default snapshots on all regions. If prompted, click Copy and set as default to go ahead.
-
Click OK to confirm your action.
A green notification pops up.
If the snapshot does not need to be copied to other regions, the notification simply reports that the action was successful. You can then see that the snapshot is set as default in the Snapshots page.
If the snapshot is going to be copied to other regions, the pop up notification tells you that the copy action will now be done, followed by the setting of the snapshot as default. In this case, you will receive an email notification when the process is complete.
