Web Console
CloudShare’s WebConsole offers a streamlined and efficient approach to managing virtual machines by allowing users to access those VMs without network dependency. It allows the user to control a VM as if their local keyboard, screen, and mouse were directly connected, providing network independence for VM access. Designed to enhance the user experience and leverage the latest VMware technology, it introduces key features to improve the interface and interaction with virtual environments. It replaces the previous console access feature (which will be deprecated).
Benefits
- Auto Resolution Resize:
This feature dynamically adjusts the VM screen resolution to match the viewer’s window size, maximizing users' usability and visual experience. Whether expanding to full-screen or working within a smaller window, the display adjusts seamlessly, allowing for more flexible and effective interactions with remote systems.
- Universal Keyboard Support:
The Web Console protocol supports all keyboard layouts and language locales without requiring pre-selection in CloudShare. This universality simplifies the user experience, as it automatically aligns with the user's local keyboard settings, reducing the need for manual adjustments and ensuring that all key presses are accurately reflected on the remote VM.
Constraints and Limitations
- Supported Browsers:
Chromium browsers (such as Chrome and Edge).
NOTE: Mozilla Firefox has a known issue preventing us from detecting the local keyboard. - ASCII character set is used when sending text into the Remote VM:
Only ASCII characters are sent into the remote VM when using non-English keyboards. This includes the English alphabet and common punctuation symbols but excludes the following accented characters: öñå. - Sending large amounts of text in the Remote VM may take some time:
Pacing is used when sending text into a remote VM to ensure the input is not misinterpreted. Users should note that they cannot switch browser tabs during this process, as it pauses the Send-Text operation.
