Vanity URLs and Error 502
We have a SharePoint 2013 environment. When I setup the vanity URLs, there are 2: hppt://company.cld.sr, and http://company.vm.cld.sr. We setup AAM in SharePoint to contains these 2 additional URLs.
- What is the differences between the 2? Which one is correct to use.
- When the VM shut down, request to http://company.cld.sr will wake up the VM, but http://company.vm.cld.sr won't. Is there a reason for this?
- Accessing SP sites using http://company.vm.cld.sr is ok, but accessing through http://company.cld.sr frequently results in error 502 (Bad Gateway). Do you know why?
Thanks,
-
Hey
.*vm.cld.sr is the direct IP address of the machine*.cld.sr is for the vanity/web-access, it goes through a proxy server that allows you to use a custom URL
The thing you mentioned about accessing through
*.cld.sr "waking up" the environment and
*.vm.cld.sr is not - its true and that how our system worksAbout your last question (number 3), its an known issue that should be resolved soon.
For now i would recommend accessing through *.vm.cld.sr - the 502 problem will not occur with it
