Snapshots and multiple SharePoint VMs

Hi, 

I had a couple questions: 

 

1)       Snapshots – Is there a way to snapshot a particular machine in an environment rather than the entire environment?

2)       Adding Machines – I’m trying to add multiple SharePoint servers to my environment but it seems that I cannot add more than one of a particular template.  Is there a way around this?

  Hi Mark,

  Great questions.
  
  1. We are working on a way to have a single-machine Snapshot however this is not currently released. We do however have the option for a single-machine revert. So this could provide similar functionality. You could start with taking a Snapshot, work in your VMs as normal, then if there was one machine you did not want to revert, you could go back and revert other machines in the environment, leaving out the one that you want to remain unchanged.

  1. The way SharePoint and SQL manage licenses, IPs and domains means that some templates are marked as singletons. To add multiple SharePoint VMs to your environment, you can use the 'no configuration' or 'server bits only' templates which do not have these limitations.
