Recent Updates
Here are some of the recent features we've added to make working with CloudShare quick, easy, and efficient.
Third Quarter 2020
We rolled out integrated support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to complete our features for the world's leading commodity clouds.
Like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform integrations, you can now provision AWS cloud environments at scale directly through CloudShare using familiar AWS tools and features:
Offer users instant access to any AWS cloud feature.
Train large numbers of students at scale on the application you’ve built on AWS.
Fully-segregated AWS environments for each user.
Create hybrid classes combining CloudShare VMs with AWS, as well as with our other external clouds in any configuration.
Provide AWS Admin Console access to students as needed.
Transparent user access to AWS VMs directly from the CloudShare Viewer.
Full CloudShare Virtual Instructor-Led Training capabilities, including over-the-shoulder and zoom-in.
Support for remote user access, custom VM display names, and more.
We also introduced:
Self-Paced Training Options enabling students to access a class any time that is convenient for them, using our industry-leading virtual training platform. Each invited student gets their own personal lab, which can be used anytime during a preset time period.
New, Easy to Use Menus that make CloudShare quicker than ever to use and streamline your workflow. You can even pin your most frequently-used activities to the top of the list. You'll feel the difference immediately!
A Resource Quota Control page that consolidates all of our resource control features, including new, control over CloudShare resources as well as external resources. You can easily assign quota controls by Cloud Type or Quota Scope.
Instant User Access to CloudShare classes with your LMS. Enable your students to bypass logins with our new API options. LMS invitees enjoy a single sign-on experience directly from your platform.
Second Quarter 2020
We've added numerous supporting features to improve user productivity and control, including:
We added even more new, granular permissions to provide you with maximum control over Classes. As with all our Role-based access permissions, you assign them from the Permissions Management page.
You can now perform actions on up to ten selected Environments simultaneously using the new bulk operations feature found on the Environments page.
We also added the ability to invite multiple Project Members simultaneously using a prepared CSV-formatted file, via the new Project Member Invitations page.
Finally, if your organization uses Salesforce, you'll appreciate our addition of support for the Salesforce Lightning platform.
First Quarter 2020
We continue to enhance our commodity cloud integrations:
When working with GCP, you can now use the computing service credentials that are provided to enable VM access from outside of CloudShare,
We added the External Resources Summary page, enabling you to view a detailed summary of external cloud resources currently used by a selected Environment, Snapshot or Class.
The external cloud provider Region and/or Zone can be assigned directly from CloudShare when you create an Environment or create a Class.
We added new Sales Enablement dashboards that provide 'at-a-glance' information about unopened, expiring POCs as well as successfully completed POCs.
You can now access a Linux VM via xRDP.
In 2019, we introduced powerful new features that broaden as well as refine CloudShare's virtual lab capabilities, including:
Built-in integration with leading commodity clouds
Advanced sales enablement functionality for POCs
Enhanced Roles-based access control for CloudShare Projects
Fourth Quarter 2019
We expanded support for the leading commodity clouds by integrating with Microsoft Azure. You can now provision Environments at scale on Azure directly through CloudShare, using familiar Azure tools and features. Access to Azure from CloudShare uses the same interface that we created earlier this year for integration with GCP.
Offer users instant access to any Azure cloud feature.
Train unlimited students at scale on the application you’ve built on Azure.
Transparent user access to Azure VMs directly from the CloudShare Viewer, as well as access to Azure’s Portal to practice real life scenarios.
Full CloudShare Virtual Instructor-Led Training capabilities, including over-the-shoulder and zoom-in.
Track POC real-time progress and understand prospect usage trends.
Fully-segregated Azure environments for each user.
Assign built-in Azure roles to end users.
Define Azure resource limits for tight budget control.
Full support for Kubernetes clusters on Azure.
We added a full Spanish interface to our multi-language Environment Viewer.
When using GCP, computing service credentials are now quickly available inside the Environment Viewer in JSON format, enabling GCP VM access from outside of CloudShare.
We further optimized CloudShare Environments to prevent unexpected shutdown events while users are logged in.
Third Quarter 2019
We enhanced CloudShare's GCP integration with powerful quota-based resource control, enabling consumption limits for individual Projects and/or complete Environments. Just select the desired resource metric (e.g., the number of CPUs), set soft and hard quota limits, and then assign the actions to be taken (e.g., delete resources) when a quota limit is reached.
We added the capability to use your own Google SDK scripts to create a CloudShare Environment that runs GCP, in addition to the existing custom Terraform script capability.
You can now suspend an Environment directly from CloudShare when working with Kubernetes.
CloudShare now uses an enhanced Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) module, making Project permissions easier to manage, and enabling more granular control over user activities. All of CloudShare’s Role-based permissions settings are now centralized on a single, easy to use Permissions Management page.
Second Quarter 2019
CloudShare's advanced virtual training features can now be run on top of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), making it easy for instructors and students to get completely transparent access to GCP during a class.
With built-in CloudShare GCP:
Train on any number of GCP VMs
Provide GCP Admin Console access to students as needed
Create hybrid classes that combine your CloudShare VMs with GCP
Apply GCP Roles (custom as well as default) for users in a class
Log in to GCP using Google multi-factor authentication (MFA)
We added a Team Management page for creating teams, a new Team details page and the ability to filter Project members by Team.
We added a full Chinese interface to our multi-language Environment Viewer.
First Quarter 2019
CloudShare introduced Sales Enablement capabilities, enabling you to open your POC 'black box' to closely track and understand POC user engagement levels.
Create and manage POCs using all of the advantages of CloudShare virtual labs
Invite POC users directly from CloudShare
Easily view and track critical sales funnel stages of your POC using built-in CloudShare analytics dashboards.
We updated our Salesforce Integration Package to work transparently with CloudShare POCs, as well as standard CloudShare invitations.
We enhanced CloudShare Analytics dashboards to include the ability to filter detailed usage metrics by Project.
We added the ability to use the CloudShare API to retrieve full student data and other details of any class.
