About Resource Quotas
You can assign quotas in CloudShare that help control the use of key resources for a project and its environments. Assigning quotas can improve the utilization of shared infrastructures and reduce your costs by limiting resource consumption.
CloudShare provides optional quota control over the following types of resources:
Global Resources. These resources are running on CloudShare's data centers. Global resource quotas control the disk size and available RAM allotment for a project or one of its environments. It is also possible to control the CPUs available for an environment.
External Resources. These resources are provided by a commodity cloud (e.g., GCP, AWS or Azure) that is being used by a project. External resource quotas help to control consumption using specific metrics you assign (e.g., available CPUs, CPU usage time, disk size, etc.)
Soft and Hard Quota Limits
You can use both soft limits and hard limits for selected quotas:
Soft Limit. When this first-tier limit is exceeded, CloudShare notifies the designated users.
Hard Limit. When this second-tier limit is exceeded, CloudShare performs an action (e.g., deletes a resource) and notifies the designated users.
Note
Account-level resource quotas are also maintained. Depending on your subscription type, you may be able to request changes to these limits. Contact your CloudShare representative for more information.
