Our current CloudShare environment templates are preconfigured with VMXNET3 net adapters on all of your VMs. If you have legacy E1000 net adapters or different net adapters on imported VMs, you might like to upgrade them to VMXNET3 type net adapters for higher performance.
Follow the steps in this article to upgrade a net adapter.
VMXNET3 net adapters require VMWare Tools.
Before you start, you might find it useful to connect to the VM, open the legacy net adapter configuration, and make a note of its configuration details so that you can reapply the same details on the replacement net adapter.
In the environment's details page, select Edit Environment > Edit Networks.
The Edit Networks page appears.
Select the VM from which you need to remove the net adapter. You can either select it from the Select Node dropdown or on the topology diagram.
The net adapters on the VM are now displayed under Net Adapters.
Find the net adapter you want to remove. Click More Details to see the net adapter's configuration. You can note down any details you need to reuse when you add the new net adapter.
Click the Delete button for the net adapter you need to remove, and then confirm the deletion.
The net adapter is removed.
Click Add Adapter.
A VMXNET3 net adapter is added.
Click the More Details link on the net adapter to change any settings as needed:
Select the target network for the net adapter.
Choose how the net adapter can be accessed from the internet:
Secure Access. Inbound access available via CloudShare's environment viewer only.
Public IP. The machine is exposed to the internet with a unique public IP.
No Access. The machine cannot be accessed via RDP and SSH in the Environment Viewer nor by direct RDP/SSH access. It will be available in the Environment Viewer via the Console interface only.
The IP address assigned to the net adapter. This IP must be on the network's subnet. The same IP address must also be configured as the net adapter's static IP in the VM's OS.
Click Save Changes.
Connect to the VM. On the VM, locate the new net adapter and configure it as needed.
