Our current CloudShare environment templates are preconfigured with VMXNET3 network adapters on all of your VMs. If you have legacy E1000 network adapters or different adapters on imported VMs, you might like to upgrade them to VMXNET3 type adapters for higher performance.
Follow the steps in this article to upgrade a network adapter.
VMXNET3 network adapters require VMWare Tools.
Before you start, you might find it useful to connect to the VM, open the legacy network adapter configuration, and make a note of its configuration details so that you can reapply the same details on the replacement network adapter.
In the environment's details page, select Edit Environment > Edit Networks.
The Edit Networks page appears.
Select the VM from which you need to remove the adapter. You can either select it from the Select Node dropdown or on the topology diagram.
The adapters on the VM are now displayed under Net Adapters.
Find the adapter you want to remove. Click More Details to see the adapter's configuration. You can note down any details you need to reuse when you add the new adapter.
Click the Delete button for the adapter you need to remove, and then confirm the deletion.
The adapter is removed.
Click Add Adapter.
A VMXNET3 adapter is added.
Click the More Details link on the adapter to change any settings as needed:
Select the target network for the adapter.
Choose how the adapter can be accessed from the internet:
Secure Access - Inbound access available via CloudShare website only.
Public IP - The machine is exposed to the internet with a unique public IP.
No Access - The machine cannot be accessed from the internet. It will be available via the Console interface only.
The IP address assigned to the adapter.
Click Save Changes.
Connect to the VM. On the VM, locate the new adapter and configure it as needed.
